Access control systems

We define who can go where and when, in a way that is convenient for people and transparent for security. From a single electronic lock to an access control system for thousands of users.

What an access control system solves

An access control system (ACS) limits entry to the building and individual rooms to authorized people only and records every passage. Instead of a bunch of keys, you get a single user database where rights are granted and revoked in seconds.

  • Security: outsiders will not get into the server room, warehouse or accounting.
  • Control: a log of every passage, alarms for forced or held-open doors.
  • Time tracking: automatic reports with no paper timesheets.
  • Convenience: one card or smartphone opens every door you are allowed through.

Equipment

  • Access controllers — drive locks and readers and keep access rights even without a server connection.
  • Readers: cards and fobs, PIN codes, biometrics (fingerprint, face), mobile credentials.
  • Locking and entry devices: electromagnetic and electromechanical locks, turnstiles, speed gates, barriers.
  • Intercoms and IP calling for visitors.
  • Software for administration, reporting and time tracking.

Integration with the fire alarm

Doors on escape routes cannot stay locked during a fire. We integrate the access control system with the fire alarm so that in a fire the locks release and the turnstiles open. We back this up with a hardware release that works even if the software fails.

Integration with video surveillance

An access control event (a passage, an attempt with an invalid card, a forced door) can be linked to the video recording automatically. Security sees the event and the video together, without searching the archive.

How we work

We start by analyzing people flows and access zones: where access is restricted, where time is tracked, which rooms need extra protection. Then we design the system, select the equipment, install it, set up access rights and train the administrators.

FAQ

Access control FAQ

Which is better: cards, biometrics or a smartphone?

Cards and fobs are cheap and convenient, but they can be handed to someone else. Biometrics rule out passing on a credential, but cost more and are more sensitive to conditions. Mobile credentials work well for offices. Several methods are often combined depending on the zone.

What happens to the doors during a fire?

The access control system is integrated with the fire alarm: on a fire signal, locks on escape routes release and turnstiles switch to free passage. This is a mandatory safety requirement.

Can it track working hours?

Yes. The access control software produces reports on arrivals and departures, late arrivals and hours worked, and can pass data to HR systems.

Can access be managed remotely?

Yes, modern access control systems have a web or mobile interface: you can grant and revoke rights, view the log and open doors remotely.
