Siemens is one of the best-known manufacturers of fire protection systems for buildings. Its addressable fire alarm systems operate in airports, hospitals, data centers, industrial plants and commercial real estate. In this article we look at Cerberus PRO, a modular system that we design and commission as certified Siemens engineers.
System architecture
Cerberus PRO is built on a modular principle:
- Fire alarm control panels of various capacities, from compact units for small buildings to panels for large sites.
- Addressable loops with ring topology and short-circuit isolators, which connect detectors, manual call points, sounders and input/output modules.
- Panel network: several panels are combined into one system, with events and control available from any panel or workstation.
- Control and indication panels for security posts and fire brigades.
- Operator workstation and integration with a building management platform.
This approach lets you start with a single building and grow the system along with the site.
Detectors and ASAtech
The main strength of Siemens is detection quality. Detectors use ASAtech (Advanced Signal Analysis) technology: sensor signals are analyzed by algorithms, and the detector parameter set is chosen for the room type, such as office, kitchen, parking garage or production floor.
As a result, the system responds quickly to a real fire but does not raise an alarm because of steam from a shower room, dust during renovation or exhaust fumes in a parking garage. For the client, this means fewer work stoppages, fewer false call-outs and more trust in alarms among staff.
The range includes smoke, heat and multi-criteria detectors, as well as specialized solutions for harsh conditions.
Control of building systems
Through input/output modules, Cerberus PRO controls everything that has to happen during a fire:
- triggering zone-based voice alarm;
- opening dampers and starting smoke extraction and pressurization fans;
- shutting down general ventilation;
- unlocking doors on escape routes and signaling the access control system;
- switching elevators to fire mode;
- transmitting signals to the monitoring station and fire suppression systems.
The logic is programmed in Siemens' proprietary software, and this is where the engineer's experience is critical: correct algorithms and delays determine whether the whole set of systems works together as intended.
Integration with Desigo CC
For sites that need a single control room, Cerberus PRO integrates with Desigo CC, the Siemens building management platform. The operator sees the fire alarm, ventilation, access control and CCTV on one graphical floor plan, and events are handled using unified procedures. Integration with third-party BMS via standard protocols is also possible.
Which buildings it suits
- business centers and office complexes;
- hotels, shopping centers;
- industrial plants and logistics centers;
- healthcare facilities;
- data centers and infrastructure sites.
For very small buildings, a Siemens addressable system may be overkill. In that case we will honestly suggest a simpler solution.
Why a certified integrator matters
Cerberus PRO is a powerful but complex system. A certified integrator has access to the proprietary software, manufacturer technical support and up-to-date documentation, and configuration follows Siemens methods. We are certified Siemens engineers with an authorization letter from the manufacturer.
